Little Laura's Nursery Costs and Fees
Little Laura’s Nursery, Church Road, West Lavington. GU29 0EH
Established April 2010
Little Laura’s Nursery is situated in West Lavington, which is a very quaint village near Midhurst. Little Laura’s Nursery is now ran where the old school used to be. The building is perfect for the Nursery as there are two large classrooms and plenty of outdoor space for the children to move freely around regardless of the weather.
Our aim is to bring out the personality of each child and meet individual needs through a relaxed learning atmosphere.
Our nurturing environment ensures:
- A happy, calm, safe environment in which to learn in a ‘family life’ atmosphere
- Individual attention, love & security for each child
- That every child reaches his/ her full potential
- That each child develops at his/her own pace
- A non-discriminating attitude
- An environment in which to flourish, through self-discipline and self-discovery
- Provision for special needs
We are passionate about outside surroundings too, and will ensure that the children are using natural materials freely whilst discovering and creating. In the outside area we have extended the children’s knowledge and understanding cultivating vegetables and plants. This is a world of fantasy and physical challenge.
Little Laura’s believes that creativity should come from within, children’s artwork is never teacher directed. Little Laura’s follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, which should underpin all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting and developing children’s:
- Personal, Social & emotional development
- Communication, language & literacy
- Physical development
- Creative development
Knowledge & understanding of the world Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Our focus is teaching the children how to interact and play with others, be it on a one-to-one basis or in a small group.
Communication, Language & Literacy
Here we lay the foundations for all literacy. We aim to provide the children with opportunities to communicate competently. We have a wide range of writing materials available, especially using sandpaper letters that they can feel the letter sounds without consciously learning to read. Our welcoming reading corner will provide an area where they can immerse themselves in picture/ reading books. This will encourage them to acknowledge our classroom filled with words, pictures and labels, helping them to recognise words and begin to read.
These are concrete activities using rods, beads, spindles and cubes that they can learn to count with. They can visualise the patterns and structures of numeration and gradually, step by step, they understand.
We use a large and small scale climbing apparatus including plenty of outdoor exercise. The children will gain from musical movement, games and ballet to promote their gross motor control, co-ordination and spatial awareness.
Expressive Arts and Design
We provide the children with a range of opportunities to express themselves, whether it is during a music lesson, through role play or whilst creating their own piece of art work which is available all day for them to use.
Knowledge & Understanding of the World
We have created an environment that allows children to explore their environment and begin to understand the world around them, encouraging their natural curiosity and interest. Giving them a better understanding for the future.
